He is responsible for leading the development, execution, and management of Chase's global commodities portfolio, including its energy, metals, and agriculture business lines. He also leads Chase's global cross-asset class options business and international market growth strategy. Prior to his current role, Mr. Samant served as Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Commodities and Options Products since 2014. Since joining the firm in September 2006, Mr. Samant has also held positions as Senior Managing Director of Rates and FX Products and Managing Director and Global Head of FX. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Samant had over 16 years of sell-side trading experience in the global FX markets, including serving as Managing Director and Global Head of FX Options and Structured Products at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank in London. He has also held senior positions at Crédit Agricole CIB in London, Crédit Agricole CIB in Paris, and Cooper, Neff & Associates in Chicago. Mr. Shaman serves on the Boards of Governors of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME) and the New York Mercantile Exchange (COMEX), and on the Board of Directors of the US Commodity Markets Council (where he also serves as Treasurer). He is also a member of the Shanghai Gold Exchange's International Advisory Committee, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Agriculture, Energy, and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee, and the Shanghai Stock Exchange's Advisory Committee to the China Securities Regulatory Commission (STA). (Mr. Shaman also serves on the Shanghai Gold Exchange's International Advisory Committee, the CFTC's Agriculture, Energy, and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee, and the STA's Listed Options Committee.) He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Northwestern University.
